Interesting numbers on carbon reserves

Monbiot offers numbers that point out that much of the current carbon-related politicking is problematic not because it’s based on incorrect data, but because it’s irrelevant (shuffling deckchairs).

I don’t agree with his conclusion (even if the UK did cut its reductions by 10% next year – and thereby gain moral authority to tell others that they should do likewise – it seems hopelessly naive to assume that China would be willing to do so, or that India would be able to do so), but the numbers paint a pretty bleak picture.
